We got a phone call from our letting agent the other day to say our landlord plans on selling the flat we rent. We've not been served formal notice yet which in a way makes it worse? Because our landlord has always been slow to act on maintenance, so who knows whether he'll get the flat on the market as soon as possible or whether he'll fanny about and never actually sell. Either way, when we get written notice we'll have two months left on our tenancy.
On the one hand I suppose it's nice to have a courtesy call and have the heads up, but on the other hand it's really frustrating. I've started looking around and applied for the social housing register, but there's very little available.
I'm trying to look on it as a positive (maybe we'll finally get a place with a garden, maybe we'll actually find a place that lets us have pets) but it's very... unsettling.
The thought of moving is very overwhelming, to be honest. We've had this flat for six years and amassed a lot of stuff. I guess I need to look at decluttering. I know I have a lot of books and clothes that could be donated to charity shops, and it's probably a good idea to reconsider what else I want to hold onto and what I could let go.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth came out though, so we're trying not to think about anything until Monday and just focus on that. My wife is playing it and it's fun to watch. I don't think the game gripped either of us until we got to the section with the Junon military parade, and then it got goofy enough to hook me.
I've been playing the original FFVII on the Switch, and despite never really enjoying RPGs before I'm hooked. I love a game with pre-rendered backgrounds and even though they're not the best I think it holds up surprisingly well graphically... plus the little blocky low-poly models are sooo charming. Having the 3x speed option on the Switch port is also a nice QOL feature, although I'm trying not to abuse it too much so I can play the game as intended as much as possible.
